Play Where The Pros Play
With such a rich golf heritage, The Greenbrier is fortunate to have hosted some of golf's most prominent players. You can walk, and play, in the footsteps of legends such as Sam Snead, Nick Faldo, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as well as the inaugural Greenbrier Classic winner Stuart Appleby and current champion Scott Stallings.
Amateurs and pros alike tend to thrive in each perfect combination of challenge and beauty. Our four 18-hole championship courses; The Greenbrier (the first course in the world to host both The Ryder and Solheim Cups), The Old White TPC, The Meadows and The Snead (our private resident's-only course), have challenged the best. America's Resort is also proud to host The Greenbrier Classic, a PGA TOUR FedExCup event, held on the legendary Old White TPC course.
Tom Watson, our golf professional emeritus, is the winner of 39 events on the PGA TOUR and current player on the Champions Tour. In 1974 he gained his first PGA TOUR win which jump-started his career. From there he went on to have 39 PGA TOUR wins, 14 Senior PGA TOUR wins and led the money list five times. Over the years he has also accrued six PGA Player of the Year titles, trailing only behind Tiger Woods in that category. Among Watson's PGA TOUR victories are the 1982 U.S. Open and a remarkable five at the British Open (1975, 1977, 1980, 1982 and 1983). He won the 2001 and 2011 Senior PGA Championship and the 2003, 2005 and 2007 Senior British Open. At the 2009 British Open, Watson had his best Open score since 1994 where he came in second behind Stewart Cink. His performance at this year's British Open makes him the oldest player to ever hold the lead after 54 holes at a major championship.
For those seeking to learn to play the game from scratch or improve their stroke or technique, The Greenbrier Golf Academy provides the ultimate in golf instruction. Attendees will benefit from leading edge teaching, playing philosophies and techniques, all focused on achieving results while ensuring a memorable experience.
The Meadows and The Greenbrier championship courses are now home to Junior Tees. Yellow (US Kids Personal) tee markers have been set throughout and special junior scorecards are available.
Each course will play at approximately 4000 yards, which is 1000 yards shorter than the red tees. The shorter course not only offers an opportunity for younger players, but also beginners of all ages.

Dwight D. Eisenhower hosted the North American Summit Conference at The Greenbrier March 26-28, 1956. He was also at the resort three times in World War II when The Greenbrier was used as an Army hospital. Once he was admitted as a patient and the other times he was here with Mrs. Eisenhower for rest and relaxation.
