    The Old White

A legend of golf history at The Greenbrier, our resort’s first 18-hole course has played host to countless legends among its tight, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. A cornerstone of The Greenbrier’s golfing heritage, the course was named for the well-known Old White Hotel, which stood on the resort grounds from 1858 through 1922. Today, it stands as a living tribute to the past and present greats of the game.

A Legend’s Blueprint

Charles Blair Macdonald, the father of American golf course design, graced The Old White with an architectural homage to some of Europe’s most iconic greens. Its 8th hole was styled after the “Redan” at North Berwick, the 13th after the “Alps” at Prestwick, and the 15th after the “Eden” at St. Andrews. This classic design has attracted the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf, among others, to host major events on this iconic tract.
