Nestled beside the Upper Lobby, the Crystal Ballroom is a magnificent space steeped in history. Once serving as an auditorium for entertaining patients at Ashford General Hospital during World War II, this space has undergone a remarkable transformation. The artistic brilliance of Dorothy Draper and Carleton Varney breathed new life into the room, shaping it into the exquisite venue it is today. This marked Carleton Varney’s inaugural design venture at The Greenbrier, and the results are truly enchanting. The room features intricate elements, including gilded sconces adorned with musical instruments, sparkling crystal chandeliers, and a medallion-patterned carpet.
