Our state-of-the-art Tennis Club has witnessed matches between some of the world's most formidable tennis pros. With a new 2,500-seat professional tennis stadium, five Har-Tru outdoor courts, five recently resurfaced Deco-Turf indoor courts and a modern pro shop, we offer year-round play for the tennis aficionado.

Collared sports shirts, tennis sweaters, shirts or blouses, slacks, knickers, walking shorts, and tennis shorts.  For indoor courts, shoes must have light colored soles.

Pete Sampras, Jennifer Tuckwiller and Terry Deremer at The Greenbrier


Pete Sampras joined the professional tour at the age of 16 in 1988 and won his first pro tournament on February 12, 1990 in Philadelphia. In 1990, he won his first US Open becoming the youngest champion at the age of 19 years and 28 days. He reached the No. 1 ranking for the first time in his career on April 12, 1993. Pete went on to win 14 Grand Slam titles (including 5 US Open and 7 Wimbledon singles titles) and held the year-end No. 1 world ranking for a record 6 consecutive years (1993-1998). In the last official match of his career, Sampras defeated rival Andre Agassi in the final of the 2002 US Open. Pete was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in July 2007, and in April 2014 was appointed The Greenbrier’s first-ever Tennis Pro Emeritus.


Terry Deremer, USPTA - Joined The Greenbrier in 2003
Terry served as the Men’s Head Tennis Coach at West Virginia University (1979-1994) where his teams were ranked #1 in the East (1988-1990) and as high as 17th in the nation (1988). WVU not only played in the NCAA Tennis Championships (1988-1990), but also remained in the top twenty through 1994. Terry was the Eastern coach of the year in 1988 & 1990. Three of his players made All-American, and seven of his players played professionally.

Jennifer Tuckwiller - Joined The Greenbrier in 2007
Jennifer served as the Assistant Women's Tennis Coach at West Virginia University (2005-2007) where she herself played tennis.  During her four years on the WVU Women's Tennis Team, Jennifer served as Team Captain and was also recognized as an Outstanding Player in both 2002 and 2004.


Visit the Pro Shop for the latest in men's, women's and junior apparel, shoes, racquets and accessories. A large selection of demo racquets are available as well as same-day racquet stringing and gripping. The Pro Shop is located in The Greenbrier Tennis Club & Fitness Center located above the indoor tennis courts and next to the outdoor tennis courts.
