The official PGA TOUR FedExCup event returns to The Greenbrier July 2 - 8, 2012 with a field of 156 PGA TOUR professionals competing for a $6.1 million purse. We're honored to welcome back the players and fans of the PGA TOUR to The Greenbrier Classic.
The 2011 Greenbrier Classic kept fans pinned to their seats with a three-man sudden death playoff for the championship. Bill Haas, Bob Estes and Scott Stallings, tied at -10, returned to the tee of #18 for the tie-breaker. Thousands of fans surrounded the green and millions watched at home on CBS, waiting to see who would earn the signature Springhouse trophy and Greenbrier green jacket. Rookie Stallings, who sprinted to the tee, birdied the hole for his first win on the PGA TOUR.
The thrilling playoff was the perfect finale for the second annual event. Over 213,000 spectators, sponsors and volunteers attended the seven-day Classic which was executed in true Greenbrier style. With the green and white striped skybox awnings and Dorothy Draper's rhododendron fabric as well as fried green tomato sandwiches, peach iced tea and guest favorite peaches and cream, all were treated to an exceptional Greenbrier experience.
Join us next year when we move to the beginning of July for what promises to be another spectacular event combining great golf and incredible concerts, it's the most anticipated stop on the PGA TOUR and the summer's hottest ticket. Join us as we celebrate America's Birthday at America's Resort.
