...as Robert E. Lee's war horse Traveller was born in nearby Blue Sulphur Springs and at The Greenbrier Sporting Club we take horseback riding to a whole new level. Explore the beautiful West Virginia countryside astride Club horses, reserved exclusively for members, or learn to ride by taking a lesson in either Western or English riding from one of our expert riding instructors. English riding programs include lessons in huntseat riding, jumping and basic dressage principles, as well as training in natural horsemanship. We also have gymkhanas, which are riding games and lessons for children that improve their balance and riding skill. Both your child and the child in you will also enjoy just meeting all of our stable horses plus our miniature burros - they love a good carrot any day, so be sure to visit. All lessons are tailored to the skill level of individual riders and we can help you improve your technique and enjoyment of this time-honored sport. The Equestrian Center also provides Sporting Club Members with Happy Dog Day Care service, where your smaller four-legged friends can enjoy supervised playtime, exercise and a sudsy bath to top it all off.
