VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IN FULL SWING

Tournament announces 2013 Volunteer of the Year

[WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV] – Tournament officials announced today that volunteer registration is in full swing for the fifth annual Greenbrier Classic, June 30 – July 6 at The Greenbrier, the classic American resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV.

“Volunteers are the heart and soul of The Greenbrier Classic,” said Owner and Tournament Chairman Jim Justice. “We are extremely proud of the more than 1400 individuals each year that donate their time to the tournament. They play an essential role in every aspect of the event and are vital in our goal to raise charitable donations within the community.”

Volunteers can choose from a total of 25 different committees during registration. These areas represent the many tasks required to conduct a PGA TOUR event. Standard Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and Junior Volunteers between the ages of 13 and 15. A description of each committee is available at www.greenbrierclassic.com.

There are many great benefits that come with being a member of The Greenbrier Classic volunteer team and a world class PGA TOUR stop. Volunteers receive tournament access all seven days of the event and complimentary parking. They also receive the opportunity to play on one of three Championship Golf Courses and take advantage of a discounted one night stay at The Greenbrier. Volunteer uniforms are provided by Polo Ralph Lauren and consist of a golf shirt, outerwear piece and hat/visor. Meal vouchers are also available. To cover the cost of the uniform, Standard Volunteers are charged a fee of $85.00 and Junior Volunteers a fee of $45.00. Meal vouchers are charged at $12 for each shift worked. With 10% of all volunteer fees designated to charity, these contributions represent an additional way volunteers help maximize charitable donations to the community.

In related news, The Greenbrier Classic’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year has been announced. The award celebrates the selfless men and women that dedicate their time to the tournament each year. The 2013 recipient is Jim Strawn of Charleston, West Virginia. Jim has been volunteering at the tournament for four years and is currently a member of the Standard Bearers committee. Jim is active throughout the year in his community promoting The Greenbrier Classic and enthusiastically seeks out opportunities to help fellow volunteers learn the ropes during tournament week. The Greenbrier Classic is proud to recognize Jim as the 2013 Volunteer of the Year.
