White Sulphur Springs- June 27, 2014: The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia’s Alleghany Mountains will be hosting The Gibson goes to The Greenbrier, July 13-15, 2014, where guests can learn about various spirits, the history of mixology, and what’s hot in the cocktail scene, all while becoming a craft cocktail connoisseur. Each Cocktail Craft Course will be led by The Gibson’s very own Brendan Murphy, plus enjoy access to the Greenbrier’s luxurious grounds, accommodations, and world-class Casino Club. This weekend’s Craft Cocktail Course includes:
  • Choose from either a Sunday, July 13, 5:00pm or Monday, July 14, 5:00pm course lasting approximately 60 minutes.
  • An interactive cocktail experience where Brendan Murphy will guide you through how to make signature drinks.
  • Each guest is provided with a workstation and materials to make the drinks.
  • Enjoy the fruits of your labor and sample the final product.
The Craft Cocktail Course starts at $40 per person for our non-package guests. For those guests wishing to stay and experience a two night getaway at The Greenbrier may purchase The Gibson Goes to the Greenbrier Package. This package includes:
  • Enjoy a two-night luxurious stay (Sunday, July 13th to Tuesday, July 15th)
  • Learn the art of craft cocktails during a hands-on class led by The Gibson's master mixologist, Brendan Murphy. Choose from a Sunday or Monday 5:00pm course. (Package price includes one class for up to two guests.)

The Gibson, the unmarked door at 2009 14th Street NW houses Washington, D.C.’s preeminent cocktail-focused speakeasy bar. Reservations are preferred as there are only 48 seats and no standing in their main bar, plus smaller spaces—Apartments One and Two, the upstairs bar, and back patio—designed to allow you to have an intimate experience with Washington’s most knowledgeable bartenders. It’s like they’re curetting a cocktail playlist just for you. The music playlist, created by Thievery Corporation’s Eric Hilton, adds the perfect touch of cool innuendos and the embossed leather bar, and dimly lit space evoke glamour, romance, danger, and ease all at once. 

Brendan Murphy serves as beverage manager for nine top Washington, D.C. restaurants owned by Eric and Ian Hilton (El Rey, Brixton, Chez Billy, Den of Thieves, The Gibson, Marvin, Patty Boom Boom, Satellite Room, American Ice Co.). He joined the Hilton group in 2009 to help create The Gibson - the first craft cocktail bar of its kind in Washington, D.C. Brendan is recognized as one of the preeminent craft cocktail mixologists in the United States.
