White Sulphur Springs, WV - May 28, 2015:

Christopher Russo: “Everybody says how great The Greenbrier is in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. They are going to be opening up a new tennis facility [Center Court at Creekside] that will seat about 2,500 people. It is 46,000 square-feet and believe it or not, they have made Pete Sampras The Greenbrier's first ever tennis pro emeritus! He is going to play Andre Agassi [at The Greenbrier]. He and Andre will go head-to-head at Center Court at Creekside on June 20th at 2:00pm”.

“Of course [Pete] is one of the all time greats, if not the great, and he joins us live at the Hotels and Resorts Hotline. It’s been a long time and we haven't had a chance to say hello to him; he says hello now. Pete, welcome - Christopher Russo.”

Pete Sampras: “Hey! How’ve you been?”

Christopher Russo: “Tell me about you and The Greenbrier, Pete? That’s a wonderful facility; everybody swears by it as a vacation spot and everything else. Now you are going to be there with Andre Agassi. Give me the rundown on how you got involved with The Greenbrier in West Virginia.”

Pete Sampras: “I was invited there at least three or four years ago to play in an exhibition and it went really well. The crowd seemed to like it; the community liked it, and Sandy Cutler, who is the main guy behind getting the stadium done, is a huge tennis fan and had this idea and asked me, ‘What about putting up a stadium?’ I said, ‘Sure, give it a try.’ He has really pulled this off.”

“The owner, Jim Justice, has gotten a little bit more into tennis and I actually put myself out there to see if they had any interest in me being the pro emeritus. They were, so I do some clinics there and I hit with the members. I called Andre myself to see if he would want to play at The Greenbrier.”

Christopher Russo: “Oh, did you really?! You called him yourself? Good for you, Pete, you picked up the phone. Wow!”

Pete Sampras: “Yes well, Andre doesn't do a lot of matches and he's slowed down so I just said, ‘Listen, we are hoping to have kind-of a big bang with the stadium opening and I couldn't think of a better twosome than you and me.’”

“So he agreed and we are going to bring our families there and have a fun couple of days. We will enjoy the court and enjoy what Sandy has put together. I’m looking forward to it. [The Greenbrier] is a great facility and resort.”

“Obviously, I am a big golf fan and I've seen The Greenbrier on TV. It has been voted the best golf tournament on the PGA Tour. I wanted to align myself with a community and resort like The Greenbrier and it has been a great relationship.”

Christopher Russo: “Excellent job, Pete! Thank you for so much of your time. You know it is always a pleasure to talk to you. You have given me a good little rundown on what’s going on.”

The Grand Opening of Center Court at Creekside will begin at 2:00 PM with an exhibition match between Sampras and Agassi and will continue at 9:00 PM with a live performance by Earth, Wind & Fire.
