Whitewater Rafting

 

Riding the roaring rapids of the famous New River is a popular activity for families and a must on any visit to West Virginia! Rafters of all levels are sure to enjoy this exciting journey at one of the nation's top whitewater rafting destination located just 90 minutes from the resortEasy enough for the first time rafter, yet difficult enough at certain times of year to challenge the most experienced crew, the New River can give you whatever you want from a whitewater rafting trip.

Located just 90 minutes from the resort, the Gauley River is the "Beast of the East." It's the essence of big-water rafting excitement creating an intense whitewater experience not recommended for the timid or inexperienced. The Gauley River is continuous, big volume, technical, gut-wrenching whitewater from start to finish. Prior rafting experience and the ability to swim are recommended.

Please call 855-453-4858 (Option 1) for reservations. CANCELLATION FEES WILL APPLY if reservations are not cancelled by 4:00pm the day prior to your scheduled trip. Please visit the Concierge the night before your tour to confirm your reservation. 

 

2016 TOUR INFORMATION

Upper New River Float Trip (ages 6+)

Difficulty: Medium Adventure Rating
Season: Daily April 26 to October 17, 2016
Hours: Tours meet at The Greenbrier's North Entrance at 7:45am, and transporation departs at 8:00am. Tours return to The Greenbrier by 6:30pm
Requirements: Must be a minimum of 6 years of age
Rates: $229.72 per adult and $195.85 per youth (ages 6-11)


Lower New River Whitewater Rafting (ages 12+)

Difficulty: Medium to High Adventure Rating
Season: Daily from April 26 to October 17, 2016
Hours: Tours meet at The Greenbrier's North Entrance at 7:45am, and transporation departs at 8:00am. Tours return to The Greenbrier by 6:30pm
Requirements: Must be a minimum of 12 years of age and 100 pounds
Rates: $229.72 per person (ages 12+)

 

Gauley River Whitewater Rafting (ages 14+)

Difficulty: High Adventure Rating
Season: September 9 to October 16, 2016
Hours: Tours meet at The Greenbrier's North Entrance at 6:45am, and transporation departs at 7:00am. Tours return to The Greenbrier by 6:30pm
Requirements: Must be a minimum of 100 pounds and 14 years of age for the Lower Gauley and 15 years of age for the Upper Gauley
Rates: $229.72 per person (ages 14+)

TOUR DETAILS

Inclusions: The tour price includes transportation (90 minutes from the resort), expert guides, adventure gear (helmet, life jacket, paddle), towels, lunch, taxes, gratuity and Historic Preservation Fund.

Release Form: 
A release form must be signed prior to departure.

What to Bring: Flexible, secure footwear is required. Guests should also be equipped with comfortable swimwear and outdoor clothing, a cap or visor, sunglasses with secure straps and sunscreen for the trip. An extra dry shirt or windbreaker are suggested. Please also bring a set of dry clothes to change into once you are off the river.

What NOT to Bring: Cotton items including jeans, clothing that does not allow ease of movement, flip flops, shoes that will be damaged by water or jewelry.

Minimum Participation: Trips during the months of May through September require a minimum of 2 resort guest participants, and trips during the months of April and October require a minimum of 4 resort guest participants to proceed.

Cancellations: There is a $100 fee for cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance. No shows on the day of the trip are charged full price.
