with Master Sommelier Fran Kysela
Fran Kysela has been in the wine business for over three decades. In 1989, he received the Master Sommelier award from the Court of Master Sommeliers, and in 1994 he founded his wine importing & distributing company. Fran's initial interest in wine was inherited from his father, one of the top collectors in the country who still maintains a 4,000 bottle cellar.
While attending graduate school at Cleveland State University, Fran took a position selling Fetzer & Gallo wines for a distributor. Being a student with little money, he took the job knowing he could use the extra income and thinking, erroneously, he could work in the business "part time". The wine business soon became all-consuming and he left school all together.
Fran has now been in the wine business for 37 years. He has worked as a wholesale representative, wine steward, national sales director and now wine importer. He became a Master Sommelier in 1989 and, in 1992, he passed the tasting half of the Master of Wine exam and hopes to complete the remainder of the MW exam in the future. Fran founded his wine importing & distributing company in 1994 and has since become one the most respected wine professional in the country.
